Opal glass is chemically inert and non-porous. It does not react with coffee acids, oils, or aroma compounds, and it does not absorb odors. Unlike glazed ceramic that can wear over time, opal glass stays consistent.

Yes. It is made from silica, soda ash, and limestone — fused above 1500 °C with no lead or cadmium. The finished cup meets FDA 21 CFR and EU 10/2011 food-contact regulations. No glaze or coating is needed, so there is no risk of surface degradation releasing harmful substances over time.
